A look at the difficulties of gardening in shady locations and suggestions on how to overcome them. Plant selection (right plant in the right place) is one of the keys to a successful shade garden and Mary Ann will share some of her favourites.
Bio: Mary Ann Van Berlo is an avid gardener who volunteers with Master Gardeners of Ottawa-Carleton. Her 2.4 acre garden on the St. Lawrence is part of the 1000 Islands and Rideau Canal Garden Trail. Since the trail opened in June 2015, Mary Ann has welcomed many visitors and bus tours to her garden. In June, 2017, Mary Ann’s garden was featured in Ontario Gardener Magazine.
